We adopted two children from Russia during 2002 (it is now 2011), who are diagnosed with RAD. Both of our precious wounded children have had ongoing manipulative behaviors that have caused us excessive grief due to their false innuendo, causing unwarranted speculation while planting seeds of suspicion in adults' minds with regard to our parental credibility and integrity. We have advocated on their behalf to teachers, church clergy, doctors, dentists, even to our state representatives, testifying about their special needs, to complete blind indifference. The reality of our sadness is that others fail to grasp the enormity of harm their misguided opinions are costing our children as much, if not greater, than the injury they are creating for us, the captains of their lifeboat. We are puzzled by the blinkered mindset of others' misunderstanding that is so easy to comprehend that even our children's peers understand the psychological aspects of our children's behaviors more than the adults we entrust with our disclosure. We are stunned at the inane thinking that risks our parenting on a daily basis. We refuse to dissolve our adoption and are on the edge of contacting national media to go public. We can't take this anymore. It is as if there is a conspiracy of blaming the parent to misguidedly spare the child. This is an epidemic and speaks loudly about the skewed parenting occurring in our Great Nation, IMHO.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is true that there needs to be a huge endeavor to create public awareness and support for raising these kids. There is so much more connected with raising an injured soul at a young age than just LOVE and providing a wonderful home! We know exactly what you are going through! Thanks and God bless!
